Author Guidelines

The Caucasus Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (CJHSS) accepts original research articles and book reviews in the fields of history, philosophy, psychology, sociology, religious studies, and philology.

The journal adheres to high academic and ethical standards and employs a double-blind peer-review process to ensure the quality and scientific integrity of published works. CJHSS follows the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and utilizes verification mechanisms to prevent plagiarism.

Target Audience and Languages The target audience of the journal includes researchers, doctoral candidates, and specialists operating in the humanities and social sciences. The journal accepts articles in Azerbaijani, English, and Turkish, aiming to serve as a bridge between regional scientific activities and the international academic community.

Publication Frequency The journal is published twice a year, in addition to special issues, in both online and print formats.

Submission Criteria

  • Only original articles that have not been previously published or submitted elsewhere for publication are accepted.

  • Submissions are welcomed from local and international scholars holding academic degrees, as well as doctoral, PhD, and Master’s students.

Author Responsibilities

  • Authors must comply with research and publication ethics.

  • Authors must not attempt to publish the same manuscript in multiple venues (duplicate submission).

  • Authors must cite all works used during the writing process in the reference list and in-text citations, respecting the intellectual property rights of others.


Submission Guidelines:

  • Formatting: The manuscript should be prepared in A4 format, using Arial 12pt font, with 2 cm margins (top/bottom), 3 cm (left), and 1 cm (right). It should be single-spaced and submitted in one copy.

  • Word Count: The total length of the article should be between 5,000 and 9,000 words.

  • Author Information: At the beginning of the study, following the title, the author’s name, academic degree or title, affiliation (institution), position, city, country, e-mail address, and ORCID code must be provided.

  • Abstract and Keywords: An abstract and keywords must be provided in the language of the article.

    • Abstract length: 250–300 words.

    • Keywords: 5–8 words, ordered from general to specific (the first keyword must be the name of the scientific field).

  • Language Requirements for Abstracts: Abstracts and keywords must be provided in both Azerbaijani and English. If the article is in Turkish, they must be provided in three languages (Azerbaijani, English, and Turkish). Each abstract must include the full title of the article, author’s name, academic degree, affiliation, city, country, e-mail, and ORCID. Abstracts in all languages must be identical, correspond to the content of the text, and concisely state the scientific results, novelty, and significance of the work.

  • Structure: The manuscript must include an Introduction, at least two (2) subheadings, a Conclusion, and a Reference List.

  • Sources: References to scientific sources from the last 10 years are essential. Titles in the reference list from other languages must be transliterated.

  • Citation Style: In-text citations and the reference list must strictly follow the APA 7 (American Psychological Association, 7th Edition) standards. To ensure full compliance, the use of reference management software such as Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote, or Citavi is highly recommended.

  • DOI: Authors are required to include DOI links in the reference list whenever available.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. Compliance with Guidelines: The submission meets all formatting and technical requirements specified in the Author Guidelines.

  2. Originality: The manuscript is an original work, has not been previously published, and is not currently under consideration by any other journal.

  3. Reference Standards (APA 7): All in-text citations and the reference list strictly adhere to the APA 7th Edition style. Accuracy and completeness of all sources have been verified.

  4. DOI Requirements: Valid DOI links have been provided for all applicable references in the bibliography.

  5. Tables and Figures: All tables, figures, and illustrations are correctly numbered, titled, and cited within the text.

  6. Ethical Standards: The study complies with the journal's ethical policies and COPE principles. Necessary permissions have been obtained for any copyrighted materials used.

  7. Metadata Accuracy: Accurate and complete metadata for all authors (Full Name, Institutional Affiliation, Email, and ORCID) has been entered into the system.

Articles

Peer Review Process

Caucasus Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (CJHSS) employs a rigorous peer review process to ensure the highest standards of academic integrity and quality. All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their alignment with the journal's scope and basic formal requirements.

The journal follows a Double-Blind Peer Review method. In this process, the identities of both the authors and the reviewers are kept confidential to ensure an objective and unbiased evaluation.

Each submission is evaluated by independent expert reviewers in the relevant field. Based on the reviewers' detailed reports and recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief or the Section Editor makes the final decision. The possible outcomes of the review process are as follows:

  • Accept Submission: The article is accepted for publication in its current form, without further revisions.

  • Revisions Required: The article is accepted on the condition that the author(s) address minor comments and make the necessary adjustments.

  • Resubmit for Review: The submission requires significant structural or content-related changes. After these revisions are made, the article will undergo a second round of peer review to determine its suitability for publication.

  • Decline Submission: The submission is found unsuitable for the journal’s standards or scope and will not be published.
